Hairy

2005-09-04 Hairy

I haven't a clue what kind of moth this is, nor did I dream that a moth could possibly be this big and hairy, especially in Texas. It was quite content to just sit there and let me take pictures. The dog was kind enough to point it out to me, and I guess it decided posing was the least it could do in thanks for sparing its life.

Wow, that's some moth. It's neat how moths' antennae are big enough that you can see their feather shape. Butterflies have that too, but they're smaller and harder to see. I think it's creepy, though, how moth legs, close-up, look like spider legs.
