Abe Update
Frequently I send out updates on Abe to our families. Mike has been trying to convince me that this is the exact reason we have a blog. So, I'm posting the latest update I sent, revised only slightly.
Thought I'd give you a quick update on the last week or so since its been kinda crazy.
First, the child care crisis of last week has been resolved. Long story short, on Monday - exactly one week before I was to be back at work - we decided not to put Abe with the lady we'd been planning on when we learned she had the T.V. on regularly when at home (as you all know a hot-button issue with us since studies are showing a direct link to ADD and Autism. Check the articles out; it's pretty scary.). As I'm sure you can imagine, trying to find child care in a week is near to impossible in this area when waiting lists are usually into June/July. However, we were reminded that God is truly in control and has a plan and on Wednesday He solved our "crisis" for us. We're putting Abe at child care highly recommended by some co-workers; they do part-time care (rare for infants) and "just happened" to have a part-time opening, they have no T.V., they're Nationally Accredited, blah, blah, blah. All that to say thus far we're really pleased with the place and are very excited to have him there! As much as I didn't want to go the day care route, so far I truly like and am comfortable with this place and already love his teacher.
Secondly, I'm starting work tomorrow (Tuesday) but Abe will not be going to day care (Mike is going to work from home). I took the little guy to the doctor today and he has bronchiolitis and an ear infection. We have officially jumped into the whirlwind of childhood sicknesses and antibiotics. Figures it would happen the day before I'm scheduled to go back to work; I'm trying not to think of it as a sign. He's had the cough since Thursday so it sounds like today will be the worst of it. Surprisingly, he doesn't have a fever; just one of the lung-hacking coughs that is frequently followed by lots of mucus. Yuk. He's still acting fine; all smiley and giggly like normal. We go back into the doc if he hasn't improved by Thursday.
Thirdly, Mike and I both saw his first tooth yesterday! We were so excited!! Talked with a couple of you and shared the wonderful news. After which I looked again and the tooth had disappeared. We have no idea where it went or how we both got wrong that there was a tooth there if in fact there wasn't. We've decided it's the ground hog tooth and we're are going to have 6 more weeks of winter. We don't care; Texas winters are beautiful.
That's all from this corner of the country!!

Can I comment on my own blog? Acceptable or not, here goes; I finally had a chance to read thoroughly the Autism article I linked to and what I found there was astounding. "'We ran the tests a number of different ways, and basically every way we run it, we get the same thing. If it rains more, autism goes up. If it rains less, autism goes down,' Waldman says." Scary indeed. =)
I agree, you should put these updates on your blog!! Sorry he's so sick. I hope he feels better soon! Good luck going back to work!
I agree, more blogging is better for everyone (though I think I last posted on mine in May....)Tell the little dude I hope he gets well soon. And I hope adjusting to working goes well.
