Party!

by jodi on January 24th, 2013

Since April and Andersen’s birthdays are so close together we had a combined party to celebrate. I fully anticipate, without guilt, doing this every year we have a party. The original plan was to have it at our house and I did my best to keep the guest list small (I have a horrible time doing this.). But, the temperature hit the low 70s, making it perfect for a park party.

April picked Dora for her theme (“Mommy, I LOVE Dora!”) and Andersen, by choice of Thomas or Diego, chose Thomas. Because I had planned on having it in our house I had a couple games planned, one which we ended up doing. I spent $5 on it, so might as well play the Dora version of Pin-the-tail-on-the-Donkey, which was put the flower on Dora’s wrist. A bit lame, I know. When I explained the game to April she didn’t want to be blind-folded or close her eyes. “Do you just want to put the sticker on?” Nods. Okay. It’s your birthday. Amazingly, she got it right where she was supposed to!! So talented! (Someone really needs to invent a sarcasm font.)

Most of the party was spent playing football (Abe and the boys mainly) or playing on the playground. And let’s not forget eating chocolate cake! Andersen just wandered around, running away from me and the camera. Poor kid didn’t take his afternoon nap, so he was a bit out of it. Handled it better than I thought he would though. And I think we’re slowly but surely moving out of the eat-all-the-bark/dirt-in-sight phase.

When I asked April what her favorite part of the party was she said putting chocolate cake in her mouth and playing with her friends. =) Truly, the best part of any party is the people that come. Many thanks to our friends that helped celebrate two most special kiddos with us! April and Andersen, we love you both tons and tons! More pictures here.
