Rock Sale

On Tuesday Abe started his first business venture, a rock sale. I’m not sure exactly what prompted it, but he found a rock at the park earlier that morning (to go with the plethora that he already has) and decided he wanted to sell it for $20. =) He so badly wanted to do it that I didn’t discourage him, even though I questioned whether he would have any customers. I did counsel him that pricing the rocks at 10 cents for large ones and 5 cents for small ones would probably be more appropriate. He even had three rocks that I thought were worth 50 cents a piece.
He had me advertise via an email sent to our friends and neighbors. In the first picture he is anxiously awaiting customers, and I even heard him yell out, “Rock Sale!!” a couple of times. It was so cute, but also hard for me to watch as nobody immediately came. So, of course I got a dime and purchased two small ones. But then our friends and neighbors totally came through. My favorite email response came from friend Maren, “How long will he be out there? We’re running errands but I could definitely use a rock
” Still makes me laugh! Overall, with an internet sale from Grandma Glenda, he cashed in $2.05. Not bad when you don’t have any overhead!
It went well enough that the next day, after a trip to the bank he asked, “Mommy, do you think I’m old enough for a credit card?” After my escaped laughter and “No!” I was pleased to realized he actually meant bank account. He wants to continue his rock sale and anticipates his train bank getting completely full. Didn’t realize we had such an entrepreneur in the family. Love him!!
Reminds me of my daffodil and tulip selling days! (I did quite well!)
