6 month stats and Tooth

by jodi on July 18th, 2012

The official 6 month stats are in: 16 pounds 15.5 ounces, 27 inches long, 44.7cm head circumference.

That puts Ander bigger than Abe was at 6 months by 10 ounces and 1.5 inches.  And heavier than April was at a year by 3 ounces (but shorter than her at a year).  He got a great report from our doctor and only two shots, which he barely cried for.  Our doc also had a couple suggestions for sleep training, so we’re going to give those a shot and see if it helps.  Here’s hoping!!

Two days after he turned 6 months he could sit without help (if you put him in position).  And just today he sat up on his own for the first time.  I laid him on his belly and found him folded in half chewing on his toes; then he pushed up and was basically sitting.  Pretty unintentional I think, but a lot of stuff they do is. =)  Lots of big milestones hitting his world right now!  Below are three pictures showing off his latest tricks. 1) Hands and Knees 2) Bear walk position (no bear walking yet) and 3) sitting.

The other exciting (yes, I realize “exciting” is relative here) happening in Andersen’s world is that just tonight at dinner I finally spotted his first tooth.  I say ‘finally’ only because I’ve been suspecting that he’s been teething for awhile, but I had no proof.  Now I know for sure.  It’s his bottom right tooth and it hasn’t cut yet, but I doubt that’s far behind.  Letting him chew on our fingers will soon be a thing of the past…
