Update #1

*UPDATE FROM 1/25*

Andersen and I are checked into the NICU at Dell Children’s. They confirmed he has RSV and guess we’ll be here about a week. Bc it is a virus, they can’t to anything to “cure” or “fix” it. It needs to run its course. They just provide support for him while it does that.

He’s currently on oxygen and just had his first feeding via a small tube thru his mouth. (Bc he’s still working so hard at breathing there is no way he could nurse.) They’re going to put him on a three hour feed schedule and as he gets better we’ll be able to work nursing back in.

Bc RSV is so contagious we are in a reverse air flow room and are being treated much like an infectious disease (masks and gowns, lots of hand washing to enter and exit, ect). I’ve been fighting a cough too (the whole family has). At first they weren’t even going to allow me to come in the room. You can imagine my response. However, bc I’m nursing him and since I don’t seem sick, they’re letting me in provided I wear a mask in the halls and enter/exit the floor thru the back entrance (I won’t pass any other rooms that way). My cough is always worse at night. Please pray that would not be the case while here!!

Pray also for Andersen of course. That he would be comfortable and get over this sooner rather than later. This virus is nasty and the poor little guy has just had a very rough couple of days. I’m hoping we’ve seen the worst of it, but that might not be the case.

Also, I can get texts and email on my phone in his room, but for whatever reason I can’t receive or make any phone calls.

Thanks for the prayers. Not how I had hoped to spend April’s 2nd birthday. :’(
