Blessings
This song below has come to mean a lot to me lately. The lyrics are below and they’re powerful. If you haven’t heard the song though, you should. Go here.
By Laura Story
We pray for blessings, We pray for peace
Comfort for family, Protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, For prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand
To ease our suffering
Pre-Chorus:
And all the while
You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much
To give us lesser things
Chorus:
Cause what if Your blessings come through rain drops
What if your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life
Are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom, Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, We doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your word is not enough
Pre-Chorus 2:
And all the while
You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win we know
That pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It’s not our home
Chorus 2:
Cause what if Your blessings come through rain drops
What if you healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments, or the aching of this life
Is a revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

We heard this song in church today and I LOVED it! So glad you posted this!
Sweet Jodi,
I’ve always wanted to write a blog and since we learned Kurtis’ news last week, it has brought be me comfort of what I would write to help others (and myself) during this time. I have started to set it up on WordPress and call it Blessings Come From with the inspiration coming from this song. I read up on Laura Story’s story and we were all married the same year — 2004 — and her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It’s amazing how her song, amidst the trials of her situation, have been a comfort and blessing to so many! Love you lots!
Blessings,
Katherine
