11 months & Dedication

by jodi on December 29th, 2010

The day after Christmas we dedicated April at church.  This is essentially our way of publicly acknowledging to God that she is His, not ours, and committing to our church family to live in such a way as to make it easy for her to come to faith in Christ.  Our church family also commits to us to live in a way to be a Christ-like example to her.  My parents were in town for the occasion and it was nice to have them there to share it with us.  Because of the holiday, many were out of town.  However, Keith and Jessi were able to join us and represent the friend crowd.  Jessi even made a nice cross for April (and a hat and scarf so Abe wouldn’t feel left out).  What a blessing they are!  Go here for more pictures.

April is now also 11 months old; wow, one year is just around the corner!!  This past month she has cut her two top teeth, bringing her tooth total up to four.  She is a girl on the go and crawls everywhere.  She’s also cruising and can walk behind her car-walker toy, but we’re still pretty wobbly.  Walking will come soon, but crawling is the cat’s meow for now.  She loves to clap, wave, fold her hands for prayer (adorable), and do “Peek-a-boo” and “SO BIG!”  We continue to struggle with getting her to eat normal meals, but keep plugging along.  Not getting in a rut or giving up is tough, but hey, I’m not nursing her to college!  Cutting those top two teeth developed some bad sleeping habits, so it’ll be time to nip those in the bud soon.  Overall though, she remains a happy, easy-going girl who is loves exploring the world around her.  She has developed some strong opinions though and makes sure those get heard… usually at meal time.
