Arbor done!
Wow, the second update in the same day. That must mean I’m back at work! Why yes, it does mean that! What fun.
So, as I said this morning, I headed out to my dad’s place in Wimberley to work on the arbor for the wedding ceremony. I’m happy to report that it is finished. It’s a large cedar arbor with 6×6 posts, lattice on the sides, and 2×8 rails across the top. Check out the pictures:

I think it turned out quite nice. I think we’ll put some large urns or pots on the sides with some flowers or something. I’m not sure what else we’ll do…maybe some vines or lacy stuff.
There is quite a bit to do at Dad’s to prepare for the wedding still. We need to clean the garage floor, prime it, then paint it. We’ll have to clean up the walls in there too. I think that will go quickly, the problem is finding a couple days of good weather in a row.
The really fun part, and I’m not kidding, will be moving all kinds of stuff around and getting set up the day before the wedding. We had three men out there today trying to move the arbor and couldn’t do it, so we had to get the tractor and carry it with straps to its ceremonial position. Hopefully the arbor is in its correct spot and we won’t have to move it. The tent will be delivered and set up by the rental place, but the tables and chairs and all the heavy stuff that you grunt at will be moved around by the groomsmen. We’ll move the washer and dryer out of the garage. We’ll have to move the trailer (not by hand) and tractor (by driving) out from the backdrop of the ceremony. If it rains, we’ll be moving a LOT of furniture around the house. Pray for NO RAIN. Take note ladies; this is the kind of thing the boys would rather do for wedding ceremony prep! …not decorate, not make signs or blow up balloons (although we will do these things of course), but grunt and sweat and generally be animals. The ladies will be setting up centerpieces and decorating whatever needs decorating — and essential task for which men just weren’t built.
