Christmas stuff
I’m long overdue for a Christmas entry and I couldn’t possibly put all the stuff in here that I’m sure you are begging to hear about.
First of all, I drove all the way to NE Ohio for Christmas. Yes, it was a long drive. So long, in fact, that my left wrist still hurts from keeping it in the same position for so long on the steering wheel. Injuries aside, the trip was really quite fun! I enjoyed the time alone listening to CDs, thinking about stuff, and seeing the countryside through Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio. I stayed in Dallas and North of Louisville on the way up. On the way back I stayed West of Nashville, and in Hot Springs, AR. I expected Hot Springs to be a little resort town, with no hotels under about $70/night. Turns out there are a whole bunch of little bitty hotels near the historic district within walking distance of the baths and national park for $20/night. Of course, it is the off season. I saw a grand total of about 30 tourists during my two half-days there. I recommend a weekend visit sometime. It’s about an eight hour drive from here, so a long weekend trip might work. Just don’t go on a Sunday night during the Christmas holidays in a rainstorm at 45 degrees. There is nothing to do.
During the week I just visited family in Ohio. My nephew Anthony is at the age where he’s testing the limits of his parents. They tell him not to do something, and he thinks for a moment, then proceeds to do it. Mostly he gets in trouble, then quite dramatically displays his displeasure at receiving punishment. He is always asked if he knows why he got in trouble, and he always gets the answer right.
Every once in a while I have strange dreams. I’ll post them here whenever I have them. I had one a few days ago where Jodi verbally expressed her displeasure at the way my body looks. Strange. She has never done this before…just a weird dream I guess.
